Description:

The Volcán Tacaná Biosphere Reserve is a protected natural area that is home to numerous species of wild fauna such as the quetzal, peacock bass, ocelot and exuberant pines, oaks and conifers that dominate the flora of this region. Visiting this lung of Chiapas in a sustainable way is a great experience, moving from Tapachula to the El Águila ejido, where in the middle of mountains and thick vegetation that cover the area you will find the Sirens waterfall, a waterfall of approximately 30 meters that can be visited throughout the year, you can admire its beauty and cool off in it. In the season from December to January, it is the majestic setting of a mute natural spectacle with the arrival of the water-winged butterflies for their breeding season.

In this site a walk is made downriver among the vegetation, where you can enjoy the flora and fauna and easily appreciate bird watching. After the waterfall, the next stop is the butterfly farm of the Sociedad Cooperativa Pakál T´xisa or in English "Butterflies with wings of water", here you can visit its facilities and eat a delicious regional meal prepared by people from the ejido, and also get to know the lifestyle of this community descended from the Mayan Mam culture.
